PUBLIC/PRIVATE / PUBLICO/PRIVADO

2003 / 14 mins / Color / 35mm

Universidad Del Cine
Buenos Aires, Argentinien

Soledad returns home after visiting her boyfriend, one night of extreme heat in the city of Buenos Aires. The deserted streets are crossed by a Ford Falcon and two ambulances, a public and a private one. Public/Private raises a paradox between a cyclical and a linear time. The tragical (and private) destiny of Soledad can be repeated in infinite deaths while is developed a meeting that defines the (public) destiny of a country. The script of Public/private was written during the first week of 2002, one of the moments of greater political instability in Argentine’s history. Shortly after the euphoria of the events of the 20 of December would disappear, leaving behind the questions and finally the emptiness. Causes and consequences can be reiterated eternally?
